Let's Get Acquainted Day 3

 Favorite TV Show?

My overall favorite show would have to be M*A*S*H. I absolutely love this show. The humor never gets old and I wish I could be that witty :)
Among all the filth out there, there really are a bunch of good shows so here are my top favorites:

  • I Love Lucy
  • The Office
  • Psych
  • Monarch of the Glen
  • Robin Hood
  • Parks and Recreation
  • Modern Family
  • Biggest Loser
To be honest I watch way more TV than I should but I'm willing to admit it and that's the first step, right?

Let's Get Acquainted Day 2

What Is Your Favorite Movie?

Hands down I would have to say Anne of Green Gables and Anne of Avonlea (the sequel as it's known today). I have loved this movie for as long as I can remember and as much as I watch it I never grow tired of it. From the absolutely beautiful scenery and my wish to live in a small town like Avonlea to Gilbert Blythe, who every girl wants to find a real life version of. It just makes me so happy.
Now if you bring Cary Grant into the picture than that's a whole different story. If it had to be one of his movies I would answer with no hesitation, Penny Serenade. Anytime Cary Grant plays a father figure I think he is amazing and I mean more amazing than he usually is :)
And if you have never heard of Elizabeth Gaskell I suggest you look her up right away. If you like Jane Austin type movies (even though they aren't really comparable) you will love the movies based on her books. North and South is the best!
I will admit that I'm a huge movie fan so even though I am forced to pick a favorite for this I have many movies that make me happy. If you're looking for recommendations I would be happy to share a few ideas with you!

Let's Get Acquainted Day 1

In an attempt to restart my habit of writing on a regular basis and letting the two of you that visit this site know a little bit more about me, I am following in my cousin's footsteps to share a new thing everyday.

What Is Your Favorite Song?

I like music as much as the next guy but it isn't something that I'm passionate about. I always have the hardest time recognizing or even remembering artists and song names so this really is not one of my favorite questions. With that said I will try to narrow it down.

Most played on my Itunes: There You'll Be
by: Faith Hill (from Pearl Harbor)
*suprising even to me since I didn't think I listened to it very often, maybe itunes isn't trust worthy as I had thought

What I consider favorite songs:

  • Misery by: Maroon 5
  • She's Everything  by: Brad Paisley
  • Livin' on a Prayer by: Bon Jovi
  • Fools Rush In by: Elvis
  • Till We Meet Again by: Doris Day
  • Buttons by: The Pussycat Dolls
  • Unanswered Prayers by: Garth Brooks
  • Remember When by: Alan Jackson
  • One Day More by: Les Miserables 10th Anniversary Edition
  • Favorite Christmas song: O Holy Night by: Michael Ball
The top one though would be Total Eclipse of the Heart by Glee. I liked the original and I don't always prefer Glee versions but this one is definitely my favorite song.

Sleep Isn't Just a Beautiful Thing

Last night my roommates and I decided we needed to start a baking project. The one we chose was cinnamon rolls, which by the way, I totally dominate these days! The only part not well thought out by myself is that we started at around 9:30 and finished around 1:30 am. When I'm tired, I have recently discovered, that I can't handle life. Everything normal turns into a big deal and fells insurmountable. I want to quit because I cannot handle this.
The only conclusion is that my career as a normal college student has been short lived and reserved solely to Friday nights. It's back to 10:30 bedtimes, oh well :)

Jim Halpert is the Gilbert Blythe of Our Day

And somewhere out there my Jim Halpert just for me! I totally believe that :)

If you aren't an Office fan than you just can't understand I guess but if you know what I'm talking about I bet you agree with me. Who doesn't want someone that loves you that much, flaws and all?

The Best Part of Growing Up

Put aside the added responsibility, the added stress of having to worry about things that used to be mom and dad's job and growing up isn't such a bad thing. I used to think that it was impossible or maybe just a gift I wasn't given, to feel confident in myself. I was guilty of wasting the time comparing myself to everyone else and always falling short. You wouldn't believe the parade of perfect people that I've seen throughout my 26 years. :) I didn't think, necessarily, that people disliked me but merely were unaware of my existence. I was too awkward, too quiet, too weird.
It's been a long learning process and I'm far from over but growing up has taught me that we are all more alike than we think. Everyone is too awkward or too weird, fighting their own weaknesses and having little victories here and there. Growing up, I have learned that I like me. I know that I'm socially awkward, not a good student, and terribly indecisive. I also know that I am a good person, a thoughtful friend, and pretty good with the little ones. Getting older (I know, I'm just sooo old) does have some drawbacks but not many cause I kinda like liking me!

Have I really screwed up my humility this time? maybe

A Little Like Pollyanna

When you look for the bad in mankind,

expecting to find it, you surely will.

I'm a sucker for those old time Disney movies from the sixties. In fact it doesn't even have to be a Disney, a good Doris Day movie will do it for me every time. You know the type of movie, pretty lacking in substance but just light, fun ways to kill time. I LOVE those kind of movies but there is one that could probably outshine the others as my favorite, Pollyanna.
As corny as it sounds watching Pollyanna makes me want to be a better person. I want to be a happy person that can look for the good in people and be glad about the little things. Now I don't want to be one of those people that is always happy and always has a smile on their face regardless of how they are really feeling cause let's be honest they aren't as pleasant as they're trying to be and that's just not real. I like being a realistic person but I wish sometimes I could look on the bright side of life a little easier and be a champion at the Glad Game
